The Fall of Solitude

Love taught me everything I know
but love never taught me
how to be alone. I gave you
nothing but the pieces
and you found them a place.
You carried me when I collapsed.
I saw the truth behind the weight;
my sins reflected off your face.
My words refracted, black in taste.
And you held your smile
through each gruesome mile
of trial and terror.
The pain of my weather.
The rain in my errors
and you made sure you never
loved me more than today.
